The Danfoss SH series scroll compressors are currently the leading high efficiency scroll compressors for applications such as cold water units. They have a power range of 25 to 140 kW. The compressors are available from autumn 2018 and 2019 in a variety of single and tandem variants for use with refrigerant R410A and alternative refrigerants with low greenhouse potential.

  • Ideal for cold water units, CRAC systems from 25 to 175 kW with a single compressor, up to 500 kW per circuit
  • Centrally positioned overcurrent valve (IDV)
  • These ensure that overcompression of the refrigerant is reduced under partial load conditions while maintaining cooling performance. They adapt motor power to the pressure conditions in the system by opening if the condensing pressure and compression ratio (partial load) drops below the integrated optimisation point of the scroll compressor. This reduces the effort required by the motor and therefore its energy consumption to improve the seasonal efficiency of the system. The use of IDV technology improves system efficiency by an average of 15% in water-to-water cold water units.
  • The load on the mechanical parts during start-up is reduced and reliable operation is ensured in high condensing and evaporating temperatures along with improved oil management.
