Emerson Climate Technologies has developed the ZF series to offer the best performance for low temperature application. This series is suitable for a wide range of uses. It can operate with evaporating temperatures of -40 to +7 °C. This model has been designed throughout for low temperature applications. The scroll compliance mechanism of these scroll compressors ensures a high tolerance for liquid hammering. Details of liquid injection for models ZF06K4E to ZF18K4E Liquid injection is achieved using a pressurised gas temperature regulator valve (DTC valve). The same single valve can be used for all compressor models and approved refrigerants. The ZF compressors (BOM 556) have a sensor pocket combined with a valve cap in the upper part of the casing. The DTC valve has a temperature sensor embedded into the sensor pocket in order to record the temperature as close to the gas outlet opening as possible.
The sensor/bellows combination allows injection to occur only if cooling is needed for the required injection quantity. The injection line is connection via a 3/8” solder connection. In order to avoid partial or complete blockages due to chippings or other particles, etc. in the injection nozzles, a filter should be installed in the liquid line near to the DTC valve inlet. A filter dryer, such as ALCO ADKPlus 036MMS or ADKPlus 032S, should be installed before the solenoid valve in order to prevent the valve and injection nozzles becoming blocked. If the internal motor protection is activated, the power supply to the solenoid valve should be cut using a current-dependent relay (103.1688).
