TraxOil OW4 Oilwatch is an electronic oil level monitoring systems with alarm and compressor shut-off functions. It is particularly suitable for use in refrigerant compressors that do not have an oil pump.
OW4 TraxOil uses a Hall sensor to measure the oil level in the compressor. A magnetic float changes its position depending on the oil level and thus also changing the magnetic field. Changes in the magnetic field are detected by the Hall sensor and evaluated by the electronics. Unlike optical systems, foaming oil or light does not affect readings. The current oil level is indicate by 3 LEDs. If the oil level enters the red zone, OW4 TraxOil raises an alarm after a time delay of 20 seconds and switches the changeover contact to alarm status (red LED). This can be used to turn off the compressor. If the oil level rises back into the normal range, the alarm is reset.
